The ANC in Gauteng is said to have agreed internally that Lerato Maloka, who is the current mayor of the Lesedi Local Municipality in Heidelberg, will serve as the executive mayor of the Sedibeng District Municipality.

He did not confirm or deny anything yet. Saviour Kgaswane who is the spokesperson for the Sedibeng District Municipality said that the municipality currently lacks a mayor and that only council can decide who is the new executive mayor.

The municipality is said to have been failing dismally in carrying out its duties since the passing of its former executive mayor, Busisiwe Modisakeng who passed away due to covid-19 related complications in January this year.
