Extension 16 in Bophelong nearly sparked a ruckus recently when they attempted to wrest a rape suspect from the hands of the cops.

As police escorted the man to show them the crime scene in his shack yesterday around 19:00, the furious community began yelling and shouting. The community asked that the cops release him, and the cops pledged to deal with him appropriately.

The man is accused of killing and raping his step-sister. Both of them shared a residence. Dineo Diphoko, 28, was discovered by a passerby on a waste site meters from her home on April 6. Before she was strangled to death, the single mother of two was allegedly raped.

Sergeant Gertrude Makhale, a police spokesperson, stated that police have begun an investigation.
