Seven people were killed and two others injured when two bakkies collided on the R553 in Vanderbijlpark yesterday.

ER24 and other emergency services arrived after 3 o’clock on Saturday morning at the scene where the vehicles were in a terrible state. Medical personnel found the bodies of six men and a lady, aged between 14 and 30, lying on the back of the bakkie as well as in the front of the vehicle.

Unfortunately, all seven patients had already succumbed to their injuries and were declared dead at a later stage.

Two people survived from the accident, a male passenger from the bakkie and the male driver from the other bakkie. They had serious injuries. They were treated and transported to nearby hospitals for medical care.

The details of this incident are unknown, however, local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
