This operation is aimed at creating a safe environment for the residents, the South African Police Service (SAPS) members led by Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Zodwa Molefe, began the Operation ‘Okae Molao’ between Vanderbijlpark and Barrage police precinct yesterday.
During the briefing of the members at the parade, Molefe who was joined by newly appointed Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Executive Mayor, Sipho Radebe and MMC for Safety, Ndade Mokoena, said that the expectations of the role of the law-enforcement agencies towards the society is very high.
The Operation started on the Barrage N1 and was carried out in two phases. The first was to focus on the N1 route North bound and the second phase mainly focused in areas of Vanderbijlpark and Barrage policing precinct.
Police spokesperson, Captain Teboho Lephoto stated that the focal point of the operation was to focus on road blocks, illegal firearms, searching of vehicles, compliance with COVID-19 protocols by motorists, and compliance with National Road Traffic Regulations and unroadworthy motor vehicles, undocumented persons, drugs and other illegal or suspicious properties or activities.
