A 3-month-old baby girl and an 11-year-old girl have died in a shooting incident at a home in Bophelong, Vanderbijlpark on Friday night.

According to ER24 the mother had a gunshot wound to the chest and is in a critical condition. ER24 paramedics were called to the scene by the South African Police Services at around 20:20 on Friday night. The mother and two children were all found in the same room on different beds. The baby and 11-year-old had been fatally injured and were declared dead on arrival by the provincial services.

The 30-year-old mother required Advanced Life Support interventions before she was transported to a hospital for further care. The South African Police Services were on the scene for investigations.
