The local businesses and the community of Vanderbijlpark people stood firm to “No looting in our areas” and “No property destruction” on Friday morning. Business owners came out in numbers to join the anti-looting campaign. Cars made rounds in Vanderbijlpark, parts of Tshireal and Bophelong. The looting that happened earlier in the week in some parts of the Vaal crippled some businesses and Vanderbijlpark has been crowded as people have been stranded with nowhere to buy essential goods. Some business owners in Vanderbijlpark stated that most criminals took the advantage of the situation to loot. The areas that were affected by the looting from Tuesday are Sebokeng, Sharpsville, Evaton and Orange Farms. There have been some calm in these communities recently.
