The office of Internal Taxi Association (ITA) is appealing to the Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Jacob Mamabolo to lift up the restrictions that he made to close down the operating of the roads in their area.
The MEC made a decision to shut down all the routes due to the recent taxi violence over the routes between the Evaton Taxi West Association (ETWA) and Internal Taxi Association (ITA). The affected associations were given additional time to submit a written report to his office.
The Chairperson of ITA, Mr. More confirmed to Sedibeng Ster that they are busy writing a letter to the office of the National Taxi Association to appeal the sentence concluded by the MEC.
The closing of operation will be effective as from 8 July 2021 until 8 January 2022. Mamabolo said the affected routes are closed for the operation of public roads passenger services. The MEC emphasised that no person will be allowed to take passengers or provide transport services in these routes.
