The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) through its Environmental Management and Planning Department is clearing the looming illegal dumping sites across the municipality.
“The department is also working towards eradicating backlogs in the collection of household waste. With Covid-19 and the shortage of compactor trucks are some of the contributing factors to backlogs in waste management in the municipality.”
ELM revealed that the Gauteng Provincial Government has budgeted R52m for the provision of waste compactor trucks.
