The community of Ward 41 in Sebokeng recently took it upon themselves to clean their community area.

The Project Coordinator, Lebohang Mofokeng, said that as part of their initiative of raising awareness, they could not wait for the local government to clean all the dumping sites in Evaton and Lakeside Proper.

“We started to clean the area in the beginning of February, aiming for a duration of up to six months. We contributed amongst ourselves and hired TLBs as the garbage was too much to handle. We appeal to the community to stop dumping everywhere.”

“We are here wishing to do good for our community. We will appreciate any mechanism that supports the idea,” she said.
