Mokoena was arrested by the Bethlehem detectives at his workplace at a firm in Vanderbijlpark recently.
According to police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, Mokoena was a detainee with seven other co-accused during September 2006. They assaulted Petrus Tshabalala who was 40 years old then, who then later passed on. His co-accused were later sentenced and served their terms, while Mokoena avoided attending court for the same matter.
Police have since been investigating his whereabouts until his arrest on 7 February 2021. His case was heard on 8 February 2021 and he was found guilty. His sentencing was announced by the Magistrate on 10 February 2021.
Mokoena received the same judgement like his co-accused. He is expected to spend 90 days in prison and four years wholly suspended.
