A group of protesters marched to the Sebokeng Police Station recently where they demanded for the removal of officers they called ‘lazy’ in dealing with rape cases at the Vereeniging FCS.
The protesters said that they are being ignored by the South African Police Service (SAPS) members when they open cases of rape and gender-based violence (GBV) at most police stations in Sedibeng. They said that they had enough of the poor services that they are experiencing.
The furious community members further demanded that three alleged ‘lazy’ female police officers at FCS offices in Vereeniging should step down with immediate effect as they are not effective in their jobs. “We are expecting to be served by women who know our frustrations,” they said.
They further alleged that bribery is extremely high at the police stations. The protester’s complainants were forwarded to the FCS by the officers from the Sebokeng Police Station.
Captain Tebogo Lephoto, Police Spokesperson said the matter has been handed to the Sedibeng District Office of the police.
