President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that some restrictions are being eased under adjusted Level 3 of the lockdown. This come after a steady decline in the number of the daily COVID-19 cases.
Ramaphosa announced that the ban on the sale of alcohol has been lifted. The president said that public places like beaches, public pools, rivers, dams and parks will be reopened. The hours of the new curfew will now be from 11pm to 4am.
The President stated further that the sale of alcohol by licensed premises for off-site consumption will be permitted from Mondays to Thursdays, from 10am to 6pm, and that the faith-based gatherings will be permitted, subject to the health protocols. About a million batches of vaccines arrived in the country today. Five hundred thousand more are expected to be in the country by March 2021.
